Jesus is THE rock of Foundation

This Fourth of July, my family and I traveled to Oklahoma City to celebrate with friends and family.  Traveling down Interstate 35 is a road very familiar to me because it is the road back to our homestate of Oklahoma.  This trip was bittersweet this time because we had to pass through Moore, Oklahoma as we all know was rocked by a F-5 tornado about a month ago.  As we passed through Moore, we could catch a glimpse of some of the wreckage left behind by the tornado.  My husband and I briefly talked about that event, then moved onto a different conversation as we pulled into Oklahoma City.

During our stay, we were able to visit his sisters, mother and cousins.  And I was able to visit my dad and cousins on both sides of my family.  But it was the visit to our son and daughter’s new home that prompt a conversation this morning and sparked this note.

The Lord has blessed them with a gorgeous new home perfect for their growing family.  Big backyard, spacious rooms and a perfect floorpan.  Our tour of their new home ended in the garage where I would say was the greatest blessing of all…..a tornado storm shelter.  We all know that Oklahoma is known for being “tornado alley” and as a result of this well derserved title, most homeowners are having tornado shelters installed on their property.  I call this a blessing because this was already in place when they purchased this home and the entire family can fit into the space.  Now you are probably wondering how does this story tie in with my title…..now I am going to share with you how.

This morning after my prayer time with The Lord, I was talking to my husband about how great it was that our son and his family will be safe from a tornadic event.  I then asked him how was it that the tornado can not rip the concrete door off the shelter.  He said that it is the same way that the foundation of the house is still left standing after the tornado has ripped off the entire frame of the house….it is because of the SOLID foundation.

I immediately thought about how Jesus is the rock of my foundation.  No matter what storms, events, trials and tribulations come our way, if our lives are built on the solid rock of Jesus, nothing can uproot our foundation.  Although we may see our lives come crashing down all around us, that solid rock of Jesus is still standing firm and can not be moved.  Jesus is a foundation that immediately restores and redeems our lives back to the original state because the foundation was not disturbed.

Now ask yourself, what is your foundation built upon?

Be Blessed and Take Care,
